HOUSE OF FAITH |   HISTORY Excerpt from The Hands and Feet of Jesus (www.handsandfeetbook.com) Our ministry began at the Lord’s leading with a vision from him and a burden for broken kids and broken families. In January of 1994, we put a sign in a yard in the Southside barrio of our small West Texas town, passed out simple flyers throughout the neighborhood, and then were ready when school let out. On Tuesday afternoon, January 24th, of the sixty-three kids who came to that neighborhood yard for the first House of Faith meeting, only eight had any real understanding of the gospel. Our original plan was simple. Go to one neighborhood for three weeks, then move on to another and then another. We wanted to be effective and reach as many kids as possible so we planned on doing this in three different areas of town. What actually happened was that we fell in love and never left. Instead, we started adding new locations, making multiple sets of materials, and found ourselves in an equipping mode for others with similar callings. What started in that one yard has grown to include a ministry that crosses all denominational and racial lines. We reach several thousand kids ranging in age from 3 years through post High School who attend weekly at twenty-two different sites throughout our city, across our state and in two different countries. We have an incredible 10,000 sq. ft. facility, buses, vans, full- and part-time staff, hundreds of volunteers and numerous ongoing programs. We provide curriculum and resources to people in several different states in the U.S. as well as in several foreign countries, and we are experiencing an ever-deepening sense of the Lord’s call and leading.
