Teaching GROWTH

“And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
Colossians 1:10 (NIV)
As all of you know (and many experienced) Texas had a bit of a cold snap recently.  Quite an understatement, I know!!  We were so excited to get back out there and “love on the kids in the name of Jesus” this week at Backyard Bible Clubs.
As we race into Spring and even begin planning for “House of Faith COVID Summer 2.0,” we can’t help but give God thanks for His never-ending grace and faithfulness.  We are so grateful for our many partners who have continued to stand with us during this year.  THANK YOU!!!
It is such a blessing to be back out with the kids, teaching them again.  They wanted to be there so badly and you could just tell that they were so grateful to be back at Clubs.
We are finishing up a series called CYCLE BREAKERS based on OT King Josiah and beginning a new 6 week unit called GROWTH.
Perhaps you were like me when our kids were at home and growing, and kept a record of their growth throughout the years on a closet door frame.  It was so fun to see the changes over time and remember back to when they were younger using this tool to measure physical growth.
We are using this idea and the verse from Colossians 1:10 above to help the kids grow in their relationship with God by learning these six tools for GROWTH;

Go to God in prayer,
  Read God’s Word,
    Obey God’s Word,
      Witness for God,
        Trust God completely, and
          Holy Spirit power.

I was reminded of another Scripture this morning: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 1:6.  It is He (God) who brings the growth, and He will indeed do this in the lives of the kids.  But it is our job and calling to teach tools that will help that to happen.  And YOU MAKE IT ALL POSSIBLE!!!
